Our Story & Mission
Get Up & Fight for a Cure was founded during one of the hardest seasons of my life, while my mother, Glenda B. Fredell, bravely battled cholangiocarcinoma (Bile Duct Cancer). In the midst of that journey, I made her a promise: to continue fighting for cancer patients and their families by providing advocacy, education, support, and hope.
That promise has guided everything we do.
But God was not finished shaping this mission.
As I later walked alongside my father, Coy C. Fredell, through his battle with dementia, and watched other loved ones face the same devastating disease, it became clear that the fight must expand. Living through dementia as a daughter, caregiver, and advocate revealed the overwhelming emotional, physical, and financial toll this disease places not only on patients, but on entire families.
Through prayer, reflection, and obedience, God made His direction unmistakable:
“Fight for a Cure must include Dementia and Alzheimer’s.”
Today, Get Up & Fight for a Cure proudly stands as an advocacy organization committed to supporting families impacted by cancer, dementia, and Alzheimer’s disease. God is paving a way for us to walk alongside families in every stage of these journeys, offering guidance, education, resources, and compassion when it’s needed most.
How We Help
Our mission is rooted in faith, lived experience, and service. Through Get Up & Fight for a Cure, we are working to provide:
- Support for patients, caregivers, and families navigating complex diagnoses
- Financial assistance and grants during times of critical need
- Education and awareness to empower families with knowledge and resources
- Advocacy and community support so no family feels alone
- Grace, hope, and faith-based encouragement throughout the journey
We believe that our trials, tests, and testimonies can serve as a battle guide for others who are currently facing these same challenges.
- This mission is personal.
- This work is purposeful.
- And this calling is God-led.
As we step into this new chapter, we remain committed to honoring the legacies of those we love, my parents Coy & Glenda Fredell, and countless families walking these roads, by fighting for better support, better education, and better outcomes for those still in the fight.
