From the Heart of Our Founder
There are moments in life that change you forever.
Get Up & Fight for a Cure was born during one of those moments, while my Mama, Glenda B. Fredell courageously battled cholangiocarcinoma (Bile Duct Cancer). In the middle of fear, prayer, and uncertainty, I made her a promise: that I would continue to fight for cancer patients and their families, to advocate for them, and to help carry the burden when the journey feels overwhelming.
I kept that promise.
There are moments in life that change you forever.
I kept that promise.
But God was not finished shaping this calling.
Walking alongside my Daddy, Coy C. Fredell, through his battle with dementia, opened my eyes to a different kind of fight, one that slowly steals memories, independence, and peace, while deeply impacting families and caregivers. Experiencing this disease personally, while watching other loved ones face the same diagnosis, made one thing unmistakably clear:
This mission MUST grow.
Through prayer and reflection, God revealed that Fight for a Cure must also include dementia and Alzheimer’s, so families navigating these journeys are not left feeling lost, unheard, or unsupported.
Today, Get Up & Fight for a Cure stands as a faith-led advocacy organization committed to walking alongside families facing cancer, dementia, and Alzheimer’s. We exist to provide support, education, financial assistance, and hope, meeting families where they are and reminding them they are not alone.
This mission is deeply personal.
It is rooted in love, loss, and faith.
And it is guided by God’s purpose.
Thank you for being part of this journey. Together, we will continue to fight…for cures, for caregivers, and for families who need grace in the middle of the storm.
With gratitude and faith, Jennifer Fredell-Saucier Founder, Get Up & Fight for a Cure 💚
